G's Fitness Pre-season Softball Training/Hitting Camp
The personal training and nutrition experts at G's Fitness, Peter and Chris Gianakos, are teaming with long-time Waterford Senior League Softball coach Rob Austin, to offer an exciting opportunity for softball players, ages 10-17, to participate in a personal fitness and hitting instruction program designed to prepare players for their upcoming high school and/or youth softball season.
Recent changes in the high school and collegiate game have placed increased emphasis on the offensive side of the game. Runs, homeruns and extrra basehits are up throughout the game. Teams that have hitters that can drive the ball for extra base hits and homeruns have a greater chance for success.
In the College Softball Championship series, in 2011, there were 174 homeruns compared to only 58 ten years ago, in 2001. Runs per game have also increased from 3.21 to 4.35. To be a winning team in 2012 means having to score more runs.
This program is for six weeks. There are 12 (1 hour) strength and conditioning sessions (twice per week) and 6 (1 hour) hitting sessions.
The fitness program will focus on core strength, rotational flexibility, and coordinated muscle development.
The hitting program will conecntrate on improving swing techniques by maximizing bat speed, hip rotation and delivering power at the point of contact.
The program will run from the week of February 5th through March 11th.
